Travesty

Travesty formed in the late 1980s in Pittsburgh. One of the original bands to fuse thrash, hardcore, punk and traditional metal, Travesty was part of Pittsburgh's new wave of underground bands; playing frequently with other local bands such as Doomwatch, Dream Death and Eviction. Travesty opened frequently for thrash and hardcore bands alike. Their lyrics were closely tied to hardcore roots, considering topics from suicide, depression and isolation to social politics. In 1990, the band dissolved. Drummer and guitarist went on to rejoin Castle Blood, a hardcore crossover band, while singer and bass player moved on to a series of bands.
