About Voices Of The Valley

Voices of the Valley had its inception as the Alumni Chorale of Lebanon Valley College. The creation of such an ensemble was due in large part to two LVC Concert Choir alumni, Ronald Poorman (’69) and Thomas Hostetter (’70), who were eager to continue singing under Dr. Pierce Getz.

The Alumni Chorale performed its initial season in 1978-79.
The Chorale has been invited to perform in Alice Tully Hall in New York City, for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association conference, the Central Pennsylvania Choral Festival, and the National Cathedral, not to mention several performances with the Harrisburg Symphony in presentations of Orff’s Carmina Burana, Beethoven’s Symphony No.9, Mozart’s Requiem, and Dona Nobis Pacem by Ralph Vaughn Williams.

With the passing of its long-time director, Dr. Getz, in 2007, the Chorale sought to continue the work that he had begun, as was his wish. After an extensive search, Gregg Mauroni was selected to be its new Artistic Director. In 2014, the Alumni Chorale took on the name Voices of the Valley to both honor its roots and to further encourage those outside of the college to become members and patrons. During Mr. Mauroni’s tenure, the ensemble continues to explore new directions of literature, performance practice, and community outreach.
