About Golden Bones

Golden Bones is a Brooklyn based five-piece rock band formed as collaboration between songwriter Brian Frey and guitarist Duncan Adams in 2006. Before long, they met songwriter/multi- instrumentalist Mason Hedgecoth, later enlisting the help of bassist Subodh Samudre and drummer Evan Lytton. Golden Bones’ sound, which has been described as “mutant Americana,” was initially influenced by gems in their parent’s record collections such as The Byrds “Sweetheart of the Rodeo” and Neil Young’s “Everybody Knows this is Nowhere,” but has evolved to include the classic, rowdy sounds of bar- room honky-tonk. Their layered, 3-part vocal harmonies have been compared to “Crosby, Stills and Nash” or “The Band,” but their sound also draws inspiration from the current indie music scene as well as their past experiences in punk and bands. Golden Bones are currently playing shows around NYC and are looking forward to recording and releasing some new material sometime in the not-too-distant future. Vocal harmonies, instruments with strings, drums.
