About Irukandji

Irukandji is a five-piece Death Metal band from Ford City, PA. They released a 6 track EP, “Necromatocyst” in early 2012, and it’s a fucking masterpiece. Review by Metal Doc Brown : “Irukandji. After much delay and plenty of bloody intake, I finally got to sit down and give this band my proper respects. What did I get in return? A raging, fist-sized, metal boner. I always hold good ‘ole PA in high regards in local metal. So many excellent bands coming out of there and Irukandji is no exception. With the latest release of “Necromatacyst” (say that with a mouthfull of peanut butter!), Irukandji brings forth a brainstew of tracks that never let you up for air. Just the cover is enough to sum this band up. Seriously, look at that crazy shit. Makes Jaws look like a movie about a goldfish. I would suspect that their live show is the stage equivalent of that. Providing a set list that is not only heavy as cement shoes, Irukandji hauls two scoops of talent into each track and found a way to remain technically proficient as well as entertaining. The elements conjur thoughts of the ominous, hectic, and urgent response of being chased by a train on fire. For some reason, somebody equipped this train with hydraulics so it can’t decide whether it wants to run you over or pound you to the ground. When Irukandji breaks that shit down, goddamn do you feel it. This is the type of quality material I love to hear from a local band. It’s the kind of intensity and passion that keeps me preferring local music in my daily life. As I’ve said, PA is chock full of these guys from what I can tell. Irukandji can charge that demon train into my skull any day of the week. Check ‘em out.” - Metal Doc Brown
