About Deva

“Deva” (the word itself recalls a divine identity that basically topples the human knowledge) is the encounter between the classical world, represented by the talented vocal skills of the soprano Beatrice Palumbo, and the modern progressive metal approach by guitarist Federico Salerno. The result, is somehow a brand new combination of Gothic Metal and Progressive Metal with Symphonic – Orchestral and Synthetic – Electronic influences. It was 2006 when the first embryo took to write and arrange what became the first album “Between Life And Dreams”, released in Italy in 2010 by RNC Music and distributed by Self. Immediately, this new work caught the attention of media and several rave reviews were written since, on webzines and magazines all over the world, whereas most of them highlighted the peculiarity of this band and the attempt to bring something new to both progressive and gothic. Just to quote a few: Rise Magazine - Uruguay“Between Life And Dreams” nos deja vastas muestras de las habilidades de estos italianos tanto en la parte vocal como en lo musical”. Tony Cannella – Femme Metal – UK “Awesome, simply awesome”, Martin Howell – Powerplay Magazine UK “This is a great debut that should appeal to anyone who likes complex adventurous music”, Colin Mc Namara – The Metal Forge – Australia “Deva has delivered a very strong debut with tons of musical flavour and excellent song writing. One could almost consider them the 'female fronted Dream Theater”. Dimitris Karametros – Metal Temple – Greece “I just love DEVA, thank the Metal Goddess that bands such as this exist”. Carlos Vaz – Progressive Rock & Metal – Brazil “Brilliant and indispensable work, highly recommendable”. Blastbeat – Holland “Deva: This could become a big name”. Spirit of Metal – France “This could be the next big band in gothic metal in 5 years, people”. “Between Life And Dreams” has also been licensed to Austria, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Russia and CIS, South Korea, Switzerland, UK. The popularity achieved by Deva gave the band opportunities on radio and tv shows, live concerts and festivals, fan clubs and interviews with webzines and magazines. In 2012 the band was asked to compose a track for the soundtrack of the independent movie “Dark Resurrection Vol. 0”, inspired by and dedicated to the “Star Wars” saga. The same year, on the 5th of November 2011, Deva supported Trivium in a sold-out show at Magazzini Generali, in Milan, so to finally be officially introduced to the italian audience. Meanwhile, Beatrice and Federico were already working on compositions for a new album: “Murther”. The writing, arranging and production of the second release took time due to the complexity of the project, which is not just a complicated concept album in terms of story, but also a more than stratified music composition, a mixed variety of modern and classical genres, real orchestra arrangements, choirs. “Murther” has been released on the 25th of February 2014, once again on RNC MUSIC and distributed by Self. Through the years, many great musicians and sound engineers have contributed to both recordings and live concerts: Ruggero Accardo, Thomas D’Alba, Federico Paulovich, Tony Corizia, Larsen Premoli, Mirko Landoni, Ciro and Matteo Aroni, Caterina Sangineto, Maria Pia Abate, Davide Barbieri, Lorenzo Ardoni, Furio Bigi, Marco Castiglione, Miriam Stallone. Deva are now working on a new full live-set for the Murther tour, which will start with a release party in Milan. They’re supported by the italian distributor Backline Surl and by brands such as Cort, Blackstar and Triton Custom Cabinets.
