About David Karsten Daniels

David Karsten Daniels is a songwriter and maker of albums. He’s lived in too many places to really be from anywhere but currently resides in the Lone Star state. Not that it really matters - David’s records (10 and counting) have always seemed to inhabit some sort of very private imaginary place where American folk, rock, jazz, noise and field recordings bleed into each other seamlessly underneath musings on family, death, religion and love undeterred by distance and time.

DKD released his 2010 record with Richmond VA’s Fight the Big Bull, a messy and glorious nine piece jazz band led by composer / arranger Matthew E. White. That release, a setting of ten Henry David Thoreau poems, is called I Mean To Live Here Still [FatCat]. NPR called said record one of the “5 best genre defying albums of 2010”.

DKD put out 3(!) albums in 2016, 'The Teacher' 'Kaleidescope' and 'Oneness' with more to come in 2017...
