About HEBE
“HEBE isn’t ashamed of expressing her emotion.” MUSIC WEEK
“… she straddles the line between the uplifting and the melancholy.” EARMILK
"..a free-thinking spirit who was driven from a young age." CLASH MAGAZINE

A trio of increasingly accomplished EP’s released between 2015 and 2020 have seen HEBE fluently adventuring new styles and reaching listeners around the globe. Her intimate live performance of ‘Cards On The Table’ for UK Mahogany Sessions in 2020, next to the likes of Rhye, Birdy and Billie Eilish as well as the placement of latest single ‘Afraid of Being Hurt’ in US Series ‘Couples Therapy’ as theme song for their final episode, show the international approval of her music.

Her new album opens with ‘Wait For Daylight’, a song about the night and the start of an anxious, dark phase. HEBE's empowering songs and glowing, warm voice manage to seamlessly intertwine a message of melancholy and hopefulness, without getting overly earnest or sounding too pure or confident. Her album ends with Lifted The Weight, a song that was written in the early mornings in her home in Amsterdam where she often found inspiration after lying awake for several hours which at times gave her a feeling of power and self sustainability.
“Sometimes I’d wander silently, preoccupied, stuck, afraid to dive into the deep waters. I wouldn’t consider myself to be shy, but I tend to limit oversharing, not being able -or perhaps not willing - to find words that exist or don’t exist- the impossibility to frame the complexity of life in sentences can be overwhelming. I realize that others would perhaps perceive me as heavy-hearted and I guess that makes sense- as a young girl I felt life was pretty frightening and for a large part I am still that same girl.

Her first EP ‘The Beginning’ and the internationally acclaimed ‘Tell Me’, which have garnered upwards of a million streams on Spotify and have seen the support of international tastemakers including Impose Magazine, Noctis Magazine, Earmilk, Vice and Music Week. The international approval culminated in HEBE performing at the prestigious Metropolis Studios and at London’s renowned Camden Assembly. Her music got airplays from UK Hoxton Radio, Fubar Radio and Reprezent Radio, whilst back in her own country HEBE has performed on national TV ‘Vrije Geluiden’ and radio shows such as Muziekcafe, 3voor12 and Radio1.

For now, HEBE plans on releasing her first singles before turning her gaze to a full-length release, but there is no rush, like most things in life, rushing always backfires.
