Taken from their short-lived USFL namesake, The Gunslingers take to the stage with the same outlaw ferocity as the bygone football team. The Gunslingers is the culmination of some accomplished national touring musicians who have settled back into their hometown of San Antonio. The quartet melding punk-rock influenced vocalist JD Duarte, neotraditional country drummer Jon Triplett, jam band guitarist Tom Vickers, and Tejano bassist Ray Gutierrez have locked into the Texas sound while simultaneously expanding on the themes of traditional Americana music.

The Gunslingers have spent the last few years cutting their teeth in Bexar County eventually landing coveted special guest spots on bill with Monte Montgomery at Sam’s Burger Joint. The attention from those shows afforded them the opportunity to host their own music events. A collaboration between The ‘Slingers and the City of San Antonio Department of Arts and Culture yielded The Sounds of Alamo City, a family-friendly stacked with local musicians.

Sounds of Alamo City also landed them repeat performances on the KENS 5 Great Day SA morning show, playing live versions of their songs “Tequila” and “Texas.”
With a focus on community service, band members Tom Vickers and JD also co-host a monthly songwriting workshop. Soldier Songs and Voices supports the artistic endeavors and mental health of both active and retired military service women and men.

Their third album is currently in the works and will be released later in 2021.
