About Statik Link
Hailing from the Midwest, dynamic production and live performance DJ Statik Link has spawned off a reincarnation of futuristic funk bass music. From dirty low end madness to the authentic sounds produced by live instruments, Statik Link has taken it upon himself to serenade all listeners alike with a new wave of all things future funk. Knowing no limits, Statik Link intricately blurs the line of hip-hop, funk and bass music while remaining true to his own raw, uncut, funky sound.
Born Josh Andres, and taking on the stage name Statik Link, the producer has always had a knack for being in the spotlight. At a young age, the producer learned guitar and trumpet, something that is still incorporated in his music today. “I was always fascinated by music. It’s always been a part of my life. The Chronic, by Dr. Dre, was a huge inspiration to me. I’ve always been drawn to funky sounding hip-hop. I try to incorporate that into my music today” says Statik Link. From the live instruments you can hear on a Statik Link recording, to seeing him perform the tracks live with a band, you can bet it’ll be a unique experience. “I want to give the people who buy a Statik Link EP, or go to a Statik Link show their money’s worth.”
From rocking festivals like Governors Ball in NYC to 808 Fest in Atlanta, radio play on BBC Radio 1xtra, support from Dj Skee and Scram Jones, having featured music on Fox’s show So You Think You Can Dance, and releases on labels like Sony Music Australia and Plenum; you can see the vivid influence the unique sound he is creating effortlessly travels across the world.
