About Mr. Dibbs
Native of Cincinnati, Mr. Dibbs revolutionized the concept of cross genre in turntablism with his series of Turntable Hardcore releases. Other releases include Turntable Scientifics, The 30th Song, Live in Memphis, Primitive Tracks, Soundtrack to Photosynthesis and Outer Perimeter (released with Doseone and Jel under the group name Presage). A true soldier in every aspect of DJing, Mr. Dibbs has something for every taste to enjoy.
Mr. Dibbs is part the turntablist crew 1200 Hobos (which has also included DJ Signify, John Doe, DJ Mayonnaise and others), whose mixtapes are often considered more compositional and less technical than those of other DJs. Influenced by the first wave of rap and hip-hop culture, Dibbs' decision to become a DJ was cemented by seeing Grandmixer D.ST perform "Rockit" with Herbie Hancock. His mix style is informed by the hectic song cuts of Midwest radio DJs like Cleveland's Mixmaster Quick and Jeff "The Wizard" Mills from Detroit. Mr. Dibbs also operates Self Core Records and organizes Skribble Jam, Cincinnati's annual festival heralding the cornerstones of hip-hop: breakdancing, graffiti, MCing, and Turntablism.
