About Things of Earth

Things of Earth might be an instrumental rock band, but they do not sound like a clone of their influences. With a drive and immediacy not often found in modern music, the four-piece can remind you how powerful this kind of music can be. Using reference points with Hum, Far, and Pelican, five tracks of detuned bliss are heard on their debut EP, Old Millennium Pictures. Storming numbers like “Glass Gallows” and “Widows Walk” never get stale as they build on riff after riff. And the band has proved they are the real deal in a live setting. Months and months of practices paid off when the band played their first show in February 2013. Since then, they’ve shared the stage with fellow post-rock juggernauts Caspian and Junius. Certainly one of the most promising bands to come out of Dallas in a long time, and definitely not a band to miss when they play live. Things of Earth is Brandon Butters, Sam Lomax, Matthew Gillispie, and Ben Smith. http://thingsofearth.bandcamp.com Eric Grubbs Dallas Observer music critic Author, Post: A Look at the Influence of Post-Hardcore 1985-2007 Music by Things of Earth ©2014 twitter.com/xThingsofEarthx
