About The New Low

On their 2016 album, Continuance, The New Low made their debut with a hard-hitting combination of metalcore, alternative rock, and soulful back-and-forth dual vocals delivering emotionally charged lyrical content.

“Writing this record was an opportunity for us to get a lot off of our chests. We didn’t want to make music just for the sake of making music. We wanted to make something that felt real to us,” says vocalist/bassist Fletcher Howell, whose band mates include vocalist Garrett Garfield, guitarist Christopher Kim, and Drummer Cory Beaver. “We needed to know that every song would put us back in that moment we were dealing with, every time we play it”

The band covers a broad spectrum of musical influences on Continuance, ranging from soaring rock anthems (Move Along, Break Free), to prog reminiscent heavy-hitting riffs (My Own Way, Continuance) to driving sing along post hardcore choruses (Burning Bridges, Not Afraid), to haunting, stripped down melodies (Afraid) all the way to acoustic ballads (Start Over), The New Low brings something to the table for everyone. But even while covering so many musical genres over 11 tracks, the band manages to put their own unique sound to each. “We’re all inspired by different music. So it’s crucial to us that we can all bring our own sound to the table to create something that’s unmistakably ours” That sound quickly earned a following that ultimately led to their signing with Razor & Tie, and the release of their debut album Continuance in the summer of 2016.
Having recently made their touring debut on the 2016 Van’s Warped Tour, The New Low stole the attention of a broad audience with their aggressively high-energy live show, where the band’s connection with the crowd is undeniably evident. “When we write about real experiences, we know that it’s going to resonate with people in one way or another. If we can make a genuine connection with one person in the crowd, that makes everything we’ve been through, worth it” says Howell “as hard as it can be to put your pain on paper, or in music, it’s part of a healing and growing process that I don’t think I could live without”
A sentiment summated by the opening lyrics on the album, “We are broken to make ourselves whole”
