Santo Vicio

Santo Vicio is composed of musicians who grew up together through the punk/hardcore scene in Laredo,TX. However, our love for music extended to many genres. In 2011, Jah Jah and myself (Bobert) began experimenting looking for a sound that compensated for my love of Jazz and Jah Jah's love of reggae grooves, and that is when caught the attention of Dr. Sergical Funken-Saenz, who is really a guitar player for our brother band La Mata. I pleaded with him to play with us because I knew I could rely on him. We always knew from when we would jam in the hardcore bands, that we are destined to create music together. We then started arranging jazz tunes from Coltrane,Davis, Wayne Shorter, and Dexter Gordon with psychedelic funk and dub reggae grooves. It felt amazing! However, we felt empty and that something was missing we wanted to be instrumental ensemble so we knew we needed a horn player, and then the universe gave us RICKY RAY HERNANDEZ! When he joined the band the prophecy came to fruition, but however there was still something that we felt was wrong. We needed a keyboardist who understands our insanity, and that's when out of nowhere a Starship came down to Earth and blessed us with Alejo (Bubba) Ortiz who was timid at first but once his heart opened up pure love came out of that keyboard. Not long after that we needed to extend our family so Bubba Ortiz contacted his people in the Pleiades, and they sent Is-RA Cruz the most psychedelic guitar player this side of the galaxy. Now, Santo Vicio is complete and all of us as musicians feel the incredible energy that runs through us when we play. We love what we do, and we are not looking to make it big.
