My name is Father Jeffrey Walker. I met Chris and Dan back in the mid-seventies here in Sewanee, Tennessee. Later, I had the honor of having them both play a concert at my parish in Connecticut. Of course, their legendary father was the reason for the concert. I had tickets and was prepared to drive from Sewanee to Houston, my old home town, to be in person for the evening at Stude. unfortunately I had a health issue that prevented me from being there. I was beyond grateful that the concert was live streamed for free. All of it was amazing even through the speakers on my laptop. Dan's solo on Take Five was light years away from that initial solo by Joe Morello, as beautiful as that was. Dan's solo was thoughtfully built, section upon section and had great dynamics as well. I'd love to know how he came upon that extra snareless snare drum to his left. I loved the enthusiasm of the Chamber Choir. They seemed to love the Brubeck Brothers Quartet as much as us jazz people. A super night that would have been even better for me if I could have made the road trip. Somebody who reads these reviews......please tell Chris and Dan hello for me. I was Rector of Christ Church Greenwich when they came to play along with their Dad. Thanks, The Rev'd Jeffrey H. Walker+

About Brubeck Brothers Quartet

Chris and Dan Brubeck have been making music together practically all their lives. Drummer Dan and bassist, trombonist, and composer Chris cut their first record together in 1966—nearly a half century ago. They’ve subsequently played a variety of styles in a number of different groups, as well as with their father, jazz giant Dave Brubeck, and with their own Brubeck Brothers Quartet. With Dan and Chris as the foundation, guitarist Mike DeMicco and pianist Chuck Lamb, complete this dynamic quartet. They perform at concert series, colleges, and jazz festivals across North America and Europe including the Newport, Detroit, Montreal, Playboy/Hollywood Bowl, and Monterey Jazz Festivals. The Quartet’s last cd, LifeTimes was a hit on the Jazz Week radio chart where it made the Top Ten list as one of the most played jazz recordings of the year.
