About What Is This?

What is This was formed in January of 2011 by brothers Lou(vocals, guitar) and Adam(Drums) Oswald, the band quickly took off from there. WiT was one of six bands chosen out of over 200 submissions that were invited to perform at HSBC Arena for the Music is Art Battle of the Bands 2011. The band has since gone on to perform at several local music venues such as The Hard Rock Cafe, The Tralf, Club Infinity, The Forum, Xtreme Wheels, Broadway Joe's, Holidays, and GFY just to name a few. They have also performed in many outdoor music festivals and private events. WiT has also opened up for national acts such as Graffiti6 and international superstar Aaron Carter. The band has even more shows planned and looks forward to a bright future. Heavily influenced by bands such as Greenday, Blink 182, and New Found Glory; What is This has successfully created their own music style. They have generated their own raw, stripped down, pop-punk style of music combined with a unique stage presence. WiT released their first official EP in May 2012 with the help of Grammy-nominated producer Anthony Casuccio, it is available on iTunes and Google Music. In January of 2013, What is This' Facebook and YouTube pages containing over 600 fans, were unexpectedly removed. A great majority of the bands images, videos, and information were lost. Also in March of that year, longtime friend and bass player Thomas Balbierz left the band to pursue other interests. With no plans on stopping, WiT continues to book shows with the help of the newest member of the family Scott Rentz now on bass.
