About VIDALIA

Vidalia began as a group of friends working on a studio project with songwriter Ronnie Calhoun, singer Charlie Hugg, and producer Matt Tortorich. Before they knew it they had two EPs that hit top 25 (#11 & #24) on the iTunes Country Charts, a #3 spot on the Billboard Heatseekers South Central Chart, and a video to their hit song “Louisianne” playing on the big screens in LSU’s Tiger Stadium on Saturday nights before football games. They have also received a shout out from New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees, had their music played in LSU’s Alex Box Stadium, and had their music streamed over 1 million times.

They have created a powerful new blend of music that is hard to define. It’s a fresh new sound that seems to have the ingredients of Outlaw Country, Texas Red Dirt, Americana, and Rock N Roll. Calhoun, the group’s primary songwriter, has a writing style that has been described as “somewhere between Texas and Nashville.” Tortorich is widely respected and considered one of the best up and coming producers in the business. His versatility and experience from producing albums in several different genres has been a major influence on the unique sound the Vidalia project has found.

In February 2017, with Calhoun and Tortorich looking to take their show on the road and Hugg deciding to step away to focus on his upcoming marriage, Vidalia began to look for their new lead singer. Calhoun’s first call was to long-time friend and country music veteran David St. Romain. St. Romain was a finalist on the nationally televised Nashville Star in 2007 and has enjoyed a great solo career. He was excited for the opportunity to work with one of his great friends and the new Vidalia was born.

Vidalia is now made up of Calhoun, Tortorich, St. Romain, Jared Daigle, and Karl Boudreaux. Boudreaux is a drummer from south Louisiana. He started playing at the young age of 8. Over his 25 years of playing and studying music, he has been privileged to share stages across the United States with many amazing musicians. From orchestra concert bands, jazz ensemble groups, church worship teams, small acoustic settings to large concert venues, he has learned that being a drummer is about playing for the music. "Less is more" is the philosophy he has behind the drum kit. "As the drummer in a band, you are the glue that holds everything together. Jared Daigle is a lead guitar player from Addis, Louisiana. Daigle is widely considered one of the best guitar players in the state of Louisiana and has even been recognized as a top player by Guitar Player magazine.

Vidalia is currently working on a new album that is expected to be released in the fall of 2017. The boys hope to hit the road and play in a town near you in summer 2017.
