Marla Lewis

For 23 years, Marla worked as an elementary school teacher of English as a Second Language. In this capacity, she created songs and literacy programs to teach English to her ESL students in a fun way. She then performed her children's music around New York City and recorded several studio records for kids, plus 40 tunes for two seasons of Kid's TV and over fifty songs for seriously ill children through Songs of Love, a national charitable organization. Marla has a song on a Grammy-Winning CD! Her tune, "Leap of Faith," co- written with Nancy Schimmel, appears on the album, ALL ABOUT BULLIES...BIG AND SMALL, which won Best Children's Recording at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. Most recently, Marla has moved away from the children's music and focused on her love of New Orleans-style jazz music, writing and releasing a 3-song smooth jazz EP called Sundown Studio Sessions in 2020. She is now preparing to release a series of singles leading up to her full Songbook LP later this year; first out is "Blue Horizons" in February 2021. Marla is quickly growing her online fanbase and loves virtually performing for them at her weekly Sunday Serenade shows, where she combines covers, originals, and personal shout-outs for her fans.
