Ian Grey

Ian Grey is a multi-instrumentalist and composer originally from Seattle,Washington. At age 8, he started nine years of classical piano training from Kendra Bigley, a graduate of Eastman Conservatory of Music. At age 15 he was given his first guitar and his passion for music was ignited, practicing obsessively day and night whenever he had the free time to do so. Just two years later he was accepted into Berklee College of Music as a guitar principle, and had the opportunity to study under many prolific teachers such as David Fiuczynski, David Tronzo, Tim Miller, and Dr. Larry Bell. While at Berklee he met bassist Nate Jakes and drummer Xavier McHugh, and an immediate musical bond was formed. They all shared the same passion for progressive modern jazz, and together they recorded and performed numerous pieces of original music in this style.To this day, they continue to perform whenever possible. In 2012, after a fruitful four years of music and liberal arts education, Ian graduated from Berklee, Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Music in Performance. Ian is currently in the studio finishing up the recording of the Ian Grey Trio’s (IG3) first EP titled “Grey Matter”. Ian currently resides in New York, and has performed at such places as The Bitter End and Columbia University. Ian Grey is a multi-instrumentalist and composer originally from Seattle, Washington.
