About Devon Graves
“What I love about music is that it is a universal language; every human being connects with it and it can communicate powerfully without requiring translation.” —Devon Graves An American living in Paris, Devon Graves has traveled a long way through many cultures and, thankfully, she has taken her music with her. Born and raised in Hebron, KY, USA, she began singing and playing the piano as a toddler. Many of her earliest memories involve music; throughout her childhood, she participated in school talent shows, recitals and church productions. She started her formal piano studies at the age of 6, adding voice lessons and piano lessons in middle school. It was at the age of 13 that Devon’s first song, “In Between,” was written, and she knew that songwriting would be a life-long passion. In 2005, she chose to further pursue that skill by attending Belmont University in Nashville, TN. There, she was immersed in the music scene and thrived in the creative environment. However, in 2007 she decided to study abroad in a little town in France called Angers. She quickly fell in love with French culture—the language, food, and even a Frenchman! She returned to Nashville in 2008 to finish her studies at Belmont, and in 2010 graduated with a double major in Commercial Voice and French. Two months after graduating, Devon began touring full time as a member of the Christian music group Mosaic. The group, comprised of five best friends and songwriters from Belmont University, produced 3 full-length music albums between 2009 and 2011. Each member actively wrote and arranged songs for each album, creating a diverse mix of genres united by rich 5-part vocal harmonies. Mosaic began touring the US in June 2010 and the group played in states all across America, from Maryland to Florida to California. Devon’s song, “Live in Victory,” was Mosaic’s first song to be made into a music video. (For more information about Mosaic, go to www.mosaicworship.com.) However, at the end of December 2011, Devon took a break from Mosaic to return to France. The Frenchman that she began dating in 2008 had become her fiancé, and she moved to Paris, France to prepare for her marriage in July 2012 and begin a new chapter in her life, personally and musically. Devon continues to write and perform music. She played her first concert in Paris in March at Café de Paris and is actively searching for opportunities to share her songs, whether in France, the United States, or wherever the road may lead. Debut album "Du Tennessee à Paris" available on iTunes and Amazon Music video "Crossroads": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPH5TtXqmkY
