About The Johns
The Johns are a DIY punk rock band from Salt Lake City, Utah, formed by best friend duo Jeff Dewsnup and Jack Briscoe at just 15. Their debut album Taxi To San Fran , was recorded, produced, and mastered entirely in Jeff’s basement, blending influences from The Velvet Underground , Ramones , and surf-punk. Two months later, they followed it up with Five Dimension Place, an EP of demos and outtakes that reinforced their raw, unfiltered style.
In 2022, the duo played relentlessly, earning a reputation for their high-energy, chaotic live shows. However, things shifted when Jack moved out of state, leading to lineup changes and a new phase for the band. Jeff kept the project alive, taking over as the driving creative force. By 2023 The Johns became a key part in Utah’s indie scene, expanding their reach to the West Coast. Their growing fanbase gravitated toward their debut album and Jeff’s live performances. Jeff also wrote and released four singles The North Star, Night Turns To Day, Don't Fear Darling, and Red Tears —which found independent success. In 2024, creative tensions arose, and Jeff decided to take a break, feeling the band had become a solo effort. During the hiatus, the four singles were re-released under his solo name. Later that year, Jack returned to Utah, reigniting their partnership and breathing new life into The Johns.
Now, with their original chemistry restored, the duo is creating new music, ready to return to the stage, continuing on their own terms.
