About Let The Guilty Hang

Let The Guilty Hang was supposed to be side project… It started off with the original members, Daniel Johnson (formerly of Guinness Clarke's Wine) and Matt “Beevare” Jeffrey (formerly of Lifter). The two would jam metal riffs just to fill the void for the lack of Heavy Metal in their lives. The loose jam sessions immediately sparked the interest from friend and Johnson’s former band mate, Derek Maynard, who was instantly on board bringing his callused and abrasive vocals along. Understanding the need for a second guitar player to pull off the Iron Maiden guitar stylings, the band acquired local guitarist Joe Baer (formerly of Born For Eternity). After writing several songs together, the band decided to complete the lineup in the search for a bassist. Adam Adkins (formerly of Born For Eternity) brought not only bass playing to the table, but his voice also, supplying all clean vocals and back up vocals throughout. The addition of Adam would complete the first official lineup of Let The Guilty Hang in July of 2005. The band spent several months writing songs that included harmonies and hooks but could also melt your face. Once the band had secured a set of songs, they consistently played both local shows and opened for several national touring acts, including Byzantine, As I Lay Dying, The Haunted, All That Remains, Trivium, & August Burns Red. This grew the band a strong fan base, prompting the band to enter 101 Productions with Aaron Fisher (Byzantine), and begin recording what would become the band’s first full-length record. Released in September of 2007, “The Unspeakable” dropped on a 2-day CD release weekend, with a Homecoming Show in Logan, WV with friends Holden Caulfield and Timeless Memory and a major labeled festival sponsored by Clear Channel station X-106.3. The Annual festival labeled X-FEST was held at Huntington’s Harris Riverfront Park and put the band on the bill with acts such as Hinder, Papa Roach, and Buckcherry. However, the band had member changes in mid-2008. Joe Baer decided to leave and pursue other career options. Within this turmoil came the addition of rhythm guitar player Aaron "Boy" Casey (also formerly of Lifter). Beevare and Boy's lifetime friendship has made for a heavy collaborative effort. Reigniting the bands spark and forging into the writing of new material, evoked a much more mature sound that recalls many elements of “The Unspeakable” but also welcomes a much truer metal influence. The band has continued to constantly play shows in and out of West Virginia and is currently writing new material for the yet-to-be-named sophomore album. The year 2009 also beckons a return to the X-Fest stage in 2009 with Shinedown, Tantric, Chevelle, and others on Saturday September the 12th. Going forward into 2010 the band will continue to promote “The Unspeakable” by playing regional dates and shopping labels. The band continues to sell both physical and digital copies of their record on all of their Social Networking sites and multiple Online Digital Resellers such as iTunes, Rhapsody, & Napster. In early 2014 the band will enter the studio to record their follow up to "The Unspeakable". Rock and Roll infused Heavy Metal from the hard times and the strip mines of West by god Virginia.
