About The Anchormen

Formed in 1979, the ANCHORMEN have become one of the premier quartets in Christian Music. With over three decades in ministry they continue a rich heritage of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ delivered by very talented and spirit filled gentlemen. While the ANCHORMEN have consistently produced several Top charting hits over the years, the legacy they we're founded upon remains their guiding principle and their #1 mission- seeing lives changed. This purpose driven devotion continues today and results in inspiring excitement the ANCHORMEN are best known for.

Terry Carter is one of the founding members of the ANCHORMEN. He sang for 18 years before taking a 9 year hiatus. He returned in 2010 quickly picking up where he left off. He is recognized by his peers and fans as one of the all-time great Baritone singers having been nominated in the Top 10 Singing News Fan Awards. His incredible emcee work and winning personality make him a vital part of all ANCHORMEN events. When off the road, he enjoys spending time with his wife Karen and being in the studio producing vocals for other artists as well as recording commercial spots.

Phillip Hughes, a native of Enterprise, AL is also a ANCHORMEN "retread" from the past. He originally came on board in 1997. During his 4 year tenure, he enjoyed many international travels as well as becoming regulars on TBN's "Praise The Lord" television network which led to performances at the Grand Ole Opry and many other exciting venues. After leaving leaving the ANCHORMEN in 2001, he later joined the Kingsmen Quartet for 6 years then onto the Harvesters Quartet before returning to the ANCHORMEN in 2015. During his time off, you can usually find Phillip coaching ball or spending time with his wife Starla and kids Ross and Ryan.

Tenor, Chris Jenkins was introduced to southern gospel music at an early age by his grandfather, who sang in a male quartet. While attending many concerts, he developed a love for the music and a desire to sing it himself. After studying voice as a teenager, he later attended the Stamps-Baxter School of Music in Nashville, TN and the University of North Carolina. Soon after singing with a regional group, he was offered and accepted a position to sing tenor with the ever popular Kingsmen Quartet of Asheville, NC where he remained for 4 years. Fans are amazed at his ability to reach the 'highest" of high notes as well as "croon" a simple ballad. His popularity with audiences earned him a Top 10 Tenor Vocalist nomination in the 2015 Singing News Fan Awards. He is also a contributing editor of a monthly column called "Next Generation" at Absolutelygospel.com. During his downtime, Chris enjoys time with his wife Stephanie and son Ryan. He also enjoys collecting vintage southern gospel records.

Bass singer, Will Lane joined the ANCHORMEN in 2003. At 20 years old, he became an instant hit with people everywhere with his rich powerful low voice and great stage presence. He left the group a few years later to help form a new ministry only to return to the ANCHORMEN in 2014. His "winning" smile and "witty" personality makes him a favorite everywhere he goes. With over a decade of experience on the road, he has perfected his craft and remained dedicated to the call on his life. Will and his wife Mindy make their home in Goldsboro, NC.

The Anchormen travel worldwide, performing 200 plus dates per year in all varieties of major events; Concert Halls, Cruises, Churches, Arenas, Festivals, Fairs, Corporate Events, Theme Parks as well as International venues.
