About Planet of Zeus
Planet of Zeus are reigning their guitar focused thunder across distant lands, marking the return of the band with a brand new single “Baptized in his Death”, the first single off their upcoming album 'Afterlife' - Out 11/10/2024.
Planet of Zeus emerged in 2000 from the heart of Athens, Greece, where ancient history meets the pulsating energy of modern rock. This heavy rock band boasts a journey that spans from supporting heavy contemporaries Kvelertak, Mastodon and Clutch, to commanding festivals such as Wacken, Graspop, Hellfest, Desertfest, Exit, Mystic and Resurrection. In Greece they 've played all the major music festivals such as Rockwave, Ejekt and Release Athens and in 2018 they played their biggest headline show at SNFCC in front of 12.000 people. With a relentless passion for their craft, Planet of Zeus has cultivated a reputation for raw, sincere, and ever-evolving live performances, earning them a dedicated underground following that transcends the geographical boundaries of their homeland. The band’s unmatched raw energy caught the attention of Clutch, earning Planet of Zeus the main support slot for Clutch's 2015 Psychic Warfare European Tour, solidifying their status in the international metal scene. Their discography, including albums like "Eleven the Hard Way", "Macho Libre" and "Vigilante" showcase a sonic journey from gritty riffs to melodic exploration. In their highly acclaimed fourth album, "Loyal to the Pack," they shuffle their musical deck, embracing blues’y melodies, clean vocals, and newfound dynamics while drawing inspiration from rock legends like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mastodon, and Clutch.
Having released six albums to date, with labels such as; Heavy Psych Sounds (Faith In Physics), ihaveadrum Records (Vigilante, Loyal to the Pack & Live in Athens) and B-Otherside (Macho Libre), Planet of Zeus have made a name for themselves in the core of the hard rock and heavy metal scene.Their most recent album ‘Faith in Physics’ (Heavy Psych Sounds, 2019) is 46 minutes of heavy, intellectual riffology and fat grooves, reminiscent of RATM’s best days, MC5-esque attitude and energy, coupled with QOTSA’s melodic radio-ready sensibilities. An album that flows like water and closes with Planet of Zeus’s signature psychedelic last track, that sounds like The Doors landing in 2019 Athens via teleportation.Critics have described Planet of Zeus’ most recent offering as; “Well executed, intellectually leaning hard edged stoner rock” (Sleeping Shaman) and “This is a goddamned great album.” RiffRelevent.Planet of Zeus are due to independently release their sixth studio album in late 2024. Listeners can expect more of what the band does best combined with raucous live appearances at festivals across Europe and beyond.Stay tuned as Planet of Zeus is about to reign thunder and lightning upon Athens and beyond.
