Yawning Sons

Artist Biography by Dave Lang (Lexicon Devil Records) Yawning Sons is a unique trans-Atlantic collaboration between musicians from instrumental organic jam rock heroes Yawning Man and progressive alternative dark rock titans Sons of Alpha Centauri. The band formed in 2008 when Californian desert rock veteran Gary Arce (Yawning Man, Ten East, Sort of Quartet) went to the UK to work with SOAC on the follow up to the debut album. Upon the first day of working in the studio, it was clear that something special was taking place. Within the space of a week Gary and Sons of Alpha Centauri wrote and record their own collaborative album with resulting sound like no other experienced before. Having composed the music fellow Yawning Man main man Mario Lalli (Desert Sessions, Fatso Jetson, Orquesta del Desierto) joined the band on vocals (and later guitar) with Scott Reeder (Kyuss, The Obsessed) and Wendy Rae Fowler (Earthlings? Queens of the Stone Age) appearing with guest vocals. The results were sublime and in 2009 Lexicon Devil Records released Ceremony to the Sunset. Penned as an instant desert rock classic and making numerous Top 10 lists for that year the record has since been repressed on vinyl through Alone Records in 2014.
