About Andy Buckner Music

If an artist is described as playing Southern music it’s fair to ask what kind. Country? Southern Rock? Rock N' Roll? Blues? Bluegrass? In the case of Andy Buckner, the answer is “all of the above” in one talented musical package. Blending honky-tonk bravado and gritty seclusion, Andy Buckner’s music embodies a balance of party anthems and instantly relatable heartache healers. The 24-year-old’s grainy, soulful voice embraces his roots and shares authentic songs inspired by his upbringing. Andy Buckner absorbed his influences honestly. Born and raised in the mountains of Marshall, North Carolina, he’s from a long line of musicians. He started singing in church at age 4 and knew he wanted to be a performing musician after seeing David Holt play with Buckner’s first cousin (Grammy nominee) Josh Goforth. Fueled by a goal to learn every instrument he could find, Andy was a multi-instrumentalist by the age of 16, playing bass, banjo, guitar, mandolin, dobro and more. During this time Andy discovered his calling as a songwriter, while maintaining a busy schedule competing at festivals, touring and performing with a variety of established artists and bands. Andy earned his first big wave of publicity when he and the band Cumberland River landed 13 songs on the hit show series “Justified” featured on FX. It was then Andy's career launched, and he wasn't even out of high school yet. He attended East Tennessee State University while establishing an identity as a solo artist. Andy became one of the first freshmen since Kenny Chesney to earn a spot in the prestigious ETSU Bluegrass Pride Band. Andy made his national debut as a contestant on NBC's "The Voice" Season 9. Months of filming, performing and fine-tuning his style as an artist propelled Andy into the Nashville scene with songwriting and performing opportunities nationwide. The young artist has already shared the stage with Folk, Bluegrass, Country, and Southern Rock greats like: Doc Watson, the Avett Brothers, David Holt, the Kruger Brothers, Ricky Skaggs, Tony Rice, Mark O'Connor, Rhonda Vincent, Bobby Hicks, Vince Gill, LeeAnn Womack, Dierks Bentley, the Zac Brown Band, Paul Thorn, Robert Earl Keen, Confederate Railroad, Dwight Yoakam, Shooter Jennings, Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Blackberry Smoke, to name a few. Inspired by artists like Gary Allan, Travis Tritt and Steve Earle, there’s no questioning Andy Buckner’s southern influenced country style. “I believe in good southern music,” Andy states. “I want people to listen to the words I write, and to relate their lives and experiences with my songs. If my music inspires, touches and heals the hearts and minds of lives all across the world, then I’ve done what I came here to do.” http://www.andybucknermusic.com https://twitter.com/ABucknerMusic http://instagram.com/abucknermusic
