Megan Jane

Nashville-based drummer Megan Jane brings a simple stylistic philosophy to her playing – “Less is more.” She plays not only drums but also guitar, bass, mandolin, cajon and even some lap steel and keyboard. Her supportive and individual style, along with her varied instrumental repertoire, made her a sought after musician in the Southern California area after moving there in 2004. Since moving to Nashville, Megan has played drums live and in the studio with several artists (Sonia Leigh, Steve Grand, Olivia Lane, Wild Ponies, Jason Sturgeon, Amelia White, Annie McCue, Julie Christensen, Sergio Webb and others). She also had the opportunity to sit in on auxiliary percussion with Dr. John at the Americana Music Awards. Recently, Megan has been working on the ABC television show “Nashville” as a drummer for the character “Sadie Stone”. Just prior to her move to Nashville in 2013, Megan was playing live with seven different bands/artists in Southern California. She played drums with four acts (The Nervous Wreckords – SD, Saucy Monky - LA, Lisa Sanders - SD and Ashley Matte – Nashville, who she continues to play with), guitar with two bands (Bitter Sober and RunhoneY – both of SD), and cajon with national touring artist Jenn Grinels. She has previously supported several other artists including Anna Troy, Tori Rogg, Alicia Champion, Veronica May and more.

Megan has also been involved with several projects as a studio musician including working with Grammy award winning Sony producer Josh “Igloo” Monroy (Ludacris, Quincy Jones) on various projects. Two popular San Diego artists, Bitter Sober and Tori Rogg (aka Wolf Prize), credit Megan Jane as co-producer and studio musician on their debut albums as she wrote and performed nearly every instrumental part on both of those records. She also recorded several tracks with Nashville country artist Ashley Matte and recently recorded a cover of the Elton John classic “Bennie and the Jets” with Steve Grand.

Born in Virginia sporting a full head of hair, Megan – who now rocks an even more fabulous full head of hair - began playing both drums and guitar in high school. She credits several vastly different artists such as Kathy Mattea, Alanis Morissette and Led Zeppelin as her inspirations for getting involved with music. After attending Berklee College of Music for two years, Megan moved to Southern California and began getting as much experience playing live and working with varied artists as possible. She recently decided to make the move to Nashville in order to gain more opportunities in her musical career.
