About Guillermo Anderson

Guillermo Anderson was born Feb. 26, 1964 in La Ceiba, Honduras (Central America). After high school he moved to the U.S.A. and enrolled in literature and theater in University of Santa Cruz, California.
At Santa Cruz, he assembled a talented trio, which performed Latin American classics and original music.
After graduating with a degree in Spanish Literature, Guillermo returned to his country.
Influenced by Brazilian bossa/ samba, Spanish flamenco, Cuban son and American composers, he developed his own mesh of guitar picking and strumming. Guillermo also added the Afro-rhythmic component of “Parranda” and “Punta” to his music, unique to the Garifuna peoples of the Central American Caribbean.
It was also from this seashore that Guillermo drew inspiration to write much of his music
Shortly after he returned to Honduras, Guillermo’s notoriety began to spread, quickly becoming Honduras’ musical artistic ambassador of choice.
His alternative Honduran anthem “En Mi Pais,” and his culinary description of Honduran foods in “El Encarguito,” gave Hondurans at home and all over the world reasons to reflect and celebrate.
Guillermo’s prolific composing abilities enabled him to record more than a dozen C.D.s in a variety of musical genres and themes (ecological, children’s, historical, gender equality etc.).
Guillermo also travelled the world with his band, giving his audience a different perception of Central America, an area constantly talked about in media outlets today.
His meaningful compositions accented with refined poetry and rhyme, stand out as a musical point of reference for this unique region of the world.
Guillermo Anderson died in his home town of La Ceiba on August 06 2016 after a short illness.
