Prashant M. John

Prashant's music has a wide range of influences and instrumentation; from the music of the Indian sub-continent, and Western music through a variety of world cultures. Prashant tours as leader with his Vancouver based World music group, Tandava, his international band Lehera and with World, Jazz, and Indian musicians in Canada and India. Mainly self-taught, Prashant has studied theory and rhythm in Carnatic music, North and South Indian flutes, African Fula flute, Jazz guitar and the Baul music of Bengal with Master musicians and teachers worldwide. Prashant's compositions have received recognition winning multiple awards and nominations for his cross-cultural music groups, Tandava and Lehera - in the American and Canadian Independent Music Awards, the Canadian Folk Music Awards, the International Songwriting Competition, and the JPF awards. www.prashantmjohn.com
