Inspired by English history as well as American soul this ensemble embraces some of the oldest and deepest dug roots of music, whilst providing finely crafted tools with which to explore a new way of looking at the art and the industry. Lucas Rock Hyland and Connor Di Leo have been an inseparable pair for nearly 10 years forming the basis on which The Wychbury Cartel would be eventually built upon. Together with Alec Jacobs help, they led The Wychbury Cartel to be signed by Robert Plant’s MAS Records in which they have been recognised for their unique music and evident talent. After the harder edge of their first EP, the sound of the Cartel changed. The core trio divided across the country, yielding new experiences and new influences, but also emotional turmoil. The second EP stopped looking outward to an ideal and began looking inward to the musicians personal memories, and the internal struggles that had never been so evident when they were together. Such emotion resonated, and audiences young and old, in a myriad of venues and towns, responded to them with warmth and excitement. So much was the positive feedback, that the Cartel reached out to their fans and supporters to crow-fund the printing of the, previously only digital, EPs onto Vinyl. The first crowd-funding success in Stourbridge was a major step in developing the creative community that the Wychbury Cartel hopes to become, and an important reflection on the musical history that is of such creative fascination in the band’s song-writing.
