About Jeta Grove
Trevor Hicks, Shawn Spray, and Grant McGilberry are no strangers to music. All have been playing their respective instruments for years, and were even in a high school band together. Jeta Grove officially formed in the late summer of 2012, nearly a year after their old high school band had broken up, when the three agreed that they couldn't live without being in a band. Their creative boundaries were greatly expanded by the time they all met up again in Shawn's room. The band draws influence from bands such as Nirvana, The Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., Black Sabbath, Interpol, Pink Floyd, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ash, System of a Down, QOTSA, The Flaming Lips and Genisis to name a few. The music has been frequently described as having a swing and groove element, and the sounds easily and naturally transition from heavy and thick rhythms to whimsical and airy melodies with synth embellishments (not to mention a few soundscapes!). Their eclectic range of influences naturally marinate together and create a one of a kind, Yin and Yang, interpretive sound that takes you through a tour through the mind, the heart, society, nature, and outer space, hoping you learn something about yourself, and the world, in the process. Jeta Grove has played shows in Dallas, Ft. Worth, McKinney, Denton, Frisco, and Plano, and will soon be going on tour to Austin and Houston. Jeta Grove is noted for having a natural approach to their stage presence, choosing to be themselves instead of portray an artificial image. We hope to convey our passion and souls through our music, and the environment at our shows has been described as "comfortable". The setlists, just like the songs, are created in a format that's designed to build and release tension. Most people are pleasantly surprised by the unique interpretation of rock music in an age where modern rock seems to be getting pretty stale. Along with two EPs already released online ("A Purposeful Accident" and "Check This Out!"), Jeta Grove is set to release their debut album, "Celestial Currents", on July 27th. All these releases are self-recorded/mixed/produced, using Shawn's room as a temporary studio. It has been a challenging, yet rewarding process. Jeta Grove's mission is to make rock music fresh again, by going back to the classics, and mixing it with some great contemporary acts. The members of Jeta Grove want to share their deep passion for rock music and the liberation that is felt by listening to and playing it by providing existential lyrics and intriguing songwriting. This is what motivates Jeta Grove, and fuels their dedication. With passion, dedication, creativity, and ingenuity, we hope to prove that it's possible to be an individual in what appears to be an increasingly conforming world. "A combination of psychedelia, post-punk, grunge, alternative, and whatever else we feel like."
