Jinx Lennon

1980-1982 recorded strange tapes on detuned guitars under names like The Landing and Dark Glasses which included my cousin Pat mutated stone age man ska music,1985 First gig AOH Hall Dundalk with first band Mutiny in Heaven supporting a very poncey looking Aslan who were in New Romantic mode,we played Sister Ray for half an hour before i realised half the band were drinking in the bar watching me and the drummer and waving at us , next band Sneaky Pete and The Ostrich 1986-1990 shambling Orange Juice and VU copyists and some pop gems played sporadic gigs best one with short stay member 'Kizzy Gibbs' who exuded real charisma as frontman sadly now deceased .His one gig with band in Fairways Hotel was supporting Scots band We Free Kings(included Colin Blakey of the Waterboys) ,1993-1994 Silver Seeds Husker Du /Dinosaur JR sounds and some pop gems recorded decent live tape at the Rock Garden Dublin ,singer Gavin Duffy electrocuted onstage at dramatic show in Pa's in 1993 in which he did an amazing electricity induced somersault .We recorded one demo in 1994 did'nt do the band justice split up soon after ,1994-1997 Novena Babes recorded one pretty good demo American type alt rock with Frank and Walters pop sensibility type quirky lyrics,lots of weird situation songs about euthanasia and sex, then it got shit and better again and before we broke up we were definitely aiming for and for the lot of the time achieving a really distinguished psychedelic drone rock sound like SY and German 70s .First time ''Get The Guards'' was played was with N Babes in MJ's Bar Dundalk in 97.Song ''Evening Gown '' which was remnant of old Sneaky Pete tune ''When Lucy Comes''recorded on compilation of Dundalk bands masterminded by local scenester legend David 'Bobo' Manning in 1997 .1999 Jinx Lennon joined short lived band The Frocks with local power pop punk singer Pete Johnson from band Rumble and Robbie Sharkey from punk band Great White Hunter played one gig in Rock The Planet Dundalk set the template for future Jinx Lennon songs .2000 first Jinx Lennon shows in new opened Spirit Store in Dundalk.2001 Releases ''Live at the Spirit Store ''cd recorded in november 2000 plays several shows in Reyjavik meets Bjork .2002 Starts playing with local singers Mark Corcoran and Deirdre Keenan as collective playing shows in Cobblestone,and what would become The Village wexford street.Paula Flynn becomes Jinx stage partner .2003 releases ''30 Beacons of Light For a Land Full of Spite Thugs Drug Slugs and Energy Vampires'' which gets kudos from Everett True former Melody Maker writer and editor Plan B magazine .Supports Hamell on Trial in december .2004 support the Fall in Roisin Dubh in Galway,another tour with Hamell on Trial.2005 records ''Know Your Station Gouger Nation!!! with Steve Lynch.Starts playing shows with British Antifolk movement in London and Brighton.2007 RTE TV show documentary ''Noisemaker ''about Jinx and his music and life.2008 writes RTE radio play with Mikel Murphy and Eithne Hand ''Know Your Station'' which deals with a number of characters based on songs from thje albums .2009 releases ''Truama Themes Idiot Times'' recorded with Mark Aubele .Jinx,Paula and Kilkenny rapper Captain Moonlight play Liverpool Irish Festival. 2010 Jinx and Paula tour UK but in may no longer singing together ''National Cancer Strategy ''released .Jinx tours with John Cooper Clarke in the autumn.2011 Jinx performs theatre show ''Man V Energy Vampire behold this s-s-s-elf indulgence gene ''in Galway Theatre Festival and releases ''Hungry Bastard Hibernia'' online In the autumn tours Scotland alongside sometimes stage partner Galway singer Sophie Coyle.2012 writes music for ill fated movie project by Kevin Allen ''The Ballad of Honky Mc Swain''.Performs show with writer PAt Mc Cabe in Glens Centre Manorhamilton both artists combining their worldviews in a high octane mind bending evening.2012/2013 Jinx takes part in Curfew Tower project curated by Bill Drummond in Cushedall .Album is released from the project overseen by Liverpool band Clinic .Jinx performs song on album "Get The Tension Out''The story goes onwards ................
