Birth of Happiness

Manny Martinez died as the sun was setting upon a balmy night in 2019. His bloated legs chilled by the grimy tile of a rented bathroom, the sounds of wet flesh squeeking against cheap porcelean and the dull, crushing thrum of nothingness his only friend, Manny found no one to yank him back from the gaping, yawning void of the self. He instead found only a chorus of mockingbirds perched outside his bathroom window, their counterpoints of chittering glee an eerie soundtrack to the blood the poured from his mouth as alcoholism prepared to add yet another fallen soldier to its collection of broken souls. And, in a sense, it did just that.

However, Death, try as he might, could not fully wrap his clammy hands around Manny's neck. On that bathroom floor, the birds offering to him their Vespers chorale, Manny Martinez both died and was born again.

Birth of Happiness is a rock band formed to acknowledge and celebrate this rebirth; a band whose dedication both to art and redemption know no bounds; a band forever convicted that music possesses the unique key to the human heart and that, using such a key, one fan, one listener, one audience member at a time, the soul of a nation might be cleansed and made new.

Despite what "they" say, happiness is not a "state of mind". It is a mode of being. An unconcealment of truth. And, as all beings must, happiness too must be born to exist. The music of Birth of Happiness is, quite literally, the soundtrack to this process. May all who listen enjoy, may all who listen be lifted up.
