About Waverunner

Hayden Chance and Aaron Maloney began to collaborate with each other in Summer 2011. Their musical partnership gave rise to a pop/rock band by the name Me Equals You. Chance on guitar and Maloney handling vocals, Me Equals You gained a large following overnight. The Delaware/Maryland band released 2 EPs and toured up and down the East Coast and across to the Midwest. After a long run, the band dispersed in fall of 2013, but their passion for creating new, inventive music never died: Chance and Maloney’s latest endeavor, Waverunner, has just taken flight. Drawing from a wide range of influences: The Neighborhood, Michael Jackson, Washed Out, and Sade, this on-the-verge artist has combined these styles into an innovative form of new wave/pop. The 8-piece band experiments with tribal percussion, vintage trumpet, and atmospheric synths, creating a truly eclectic sound. Their diverse material ranges from rhythmic latin-pop in “It’s Okay to Dance” to “Smoke”, where the band reaches deep into their melodic chill wave roots. The band had their debut performance at the Dogwood Music Festival in Galena, Maryland. Waverunner’s positive reception led to an increased following, landing them shows at even larger venues (Oddity bar in Wilmington, North Star bar in Philadelphia, Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover, etc.) In June 2014, they released the music video of their industrial single, “Hello Love”. The video received notable buzz in the local music community, stimulating the release of a teaser for the band’s full-length album. Over the summer of 2014, Maloney embarked on a trans-continental tour, playing drums for This Or The Apocalypse, leaving Chance and the rest of the band time to focus and compose the rest of their upcoming album in conjunction with Andover Recording. Waverunner’s full-length is scheduled for release in Fall 2014. We are musicians making music - We are Waverunner.
