About Mad Robot
Su sonido se ha comparado con Pixies, Weezer, The Rentals, REM, They Might Be Giants, Nirvana o Pavement.
Noise and Melody
Mad Robot release their second album “I Declare War”, made up of 14 magnificent tracks that take off where the best of 90’s alternative rock left off
I Declare War is the new álbum by the Valenician band Mad Robot. This collection of steamroller melodies, poisoned by guitars that are reminiscent of the best 90’s alternative US rock was produced by the band with guest appearences by Cristóbal Perpiñá (Seguridad Social, Club 430, Rice), Nick Simpson y Dani Gurrea (The Someone Elses) y Nacho Nácher (Perro Grande).
The quintet from Paiporta (Valencia), were originally a duo formed in 2011 by Mike Grau (Furious Planet) y Susana Munárriz. Since then the lineup has been filled out by Borja Boscà (Perro Grande, España, Mañana Tampoco, Portero Regateador)bass; y Roberto Timón (Furious Planet, La Muñeca De Sal, Corcobado), on drums.
NOISE, POP in DIY
This record is without a doubt an example of a DIY attitude; a home recording as an alternative to the mainstream without compromising sound quality or compositions. As the creative force behind the band, Mike Grau’s talent for pop sensibility coupled with the contrasting noise that grips the sound, show that his imagination and gift for composing “has not diminished since Furious Planet” Eduardo Guillot, NEO Magazine.
Mike Grau released five albums in the 90’s with Furious Planet on Subterfuge Records, Experience Records and Locomotive Music. The last few years have seen Mike go back to his creative background and put a band together that can bring his songs to performance.
2013’s Blacklisted was well received as an album full of tracks that mix melody with an angry guitar sound reminiscent of early Pixies or Nirvana. The debut album, recorded as a duo, was highlighted for its “clean and catchy sound” (B-Sides Magazine) as well being praised for “the delicious complimentary contrasting nature of the duo” ” (Carlos Pérez de Ziriza).
