About The Shaker Hymn
The Shaker Hymn are a five-piece alternative rock band from Cork, Ireland. Having known
each other since childhood, the catalyst for what would become The Shaker Hymn was a two month American excursion early in 2012. A remarkable road trip ensued, involving acoustic support slots to Chelsea Crowell. It was on this trek that brand new, future-embracing
songs were crafted; songs that would shortly enter the repertoire of the fledgling Shaker Hymn.
Following national and local airplay of their first two critically acclaimed singles, the band's
debut album, Rascal's Antique, was released on 30th May 2014, on the band's own label, Heavy
Noids Records.
In late 2015, the band released two new singles of raucous fuzz infused psych-pop to serve
as a taster from their forthcoming album ‘Do You Think You’re Clever?’ released on April 1st 2016, with
both tracks already garnering the band local and national radio play & plenty of media acclaim.
"It's one of the coolest rock songs out of Ireland this year and it's clear the band are really in the groove right now" - JOE.IE
"Echoing the lazy drawls of ex Stroke's frontman Julian Casablancas but with a swagger all their own, Shaker Hymn are a band to watch out for next year." - HOTPRESS
‘Sucking It Out’ is frenetic new track that builds to a kaleidoscopic indie-rock outro. Given the more stylised production and overall sense of sonic placement that permeates throughout ‘Sucking It Out’, things are looking well-set for the Shaker Hymn’s new album." - THELASTMIXEDTAPE
"it’s straight-up rock n’ roll done very well, without shirking the urge to make it their very own" - THE THIN AIR
"Plenty here for fans of Britpop’s reverbier excesses, psych’s more accessible corners or those just in search of some good, honest rock ‘n’ roll. Approved." - BROADSHEET.IE
"New single Sucking It Out sees them hitting their stride" - GOLDENPLEC
