About Remode

Remode
Remode have been playing the music of Depeche Mode since 2006 — not as a copy, but as a translation. The idea came from the original: since Christian Eigner took over live drums, the songs have sounded rawer on stage than on record. Remode take that all the way — real drums, electric guitar and a bass that grooves, with many of the synth leads played live on guitar.
The musicians come from rock: drummer Vic Chains (The Spook), bassist Slick Prolidol (Double Crush Syndrome, ex-The Traceelords) and singer Dan Yell (Brand New Demon). Keyboardist Tony Clare works with the original sounds of each era, on instruments he partly acquired from Alan Wilder himself.
In 2015 the band toured England, playing Tribfest in Driffield and the Towngate Theatre in Basildon, Depeche Mode's hometown, in front of old friends and relatives of the band. Since then Remode have played nine countries — from Große Freiheit 36 in Hamburg to a stage 700 metres underground in Sondershausen.
2023 brought their own recording of A Broken Frame, commissioned by the magazine Sonic Seducer; 2025 the live album Music With The Masses. In 2026 the band marks 20 years on the road, with around 50 shows.
