marie-claire is an Italian-trained opera singer who has performed at Carnegie Hall and at the Metropolitan Room in New York City. In addition, she has spent time in front of the camera as a cast member on the second season of Chappelle’s Show on Comedy Central. In her original homeland of Dominica, marie-claire has produced and hosted local music programs and events through her company, Girlfullofgold Productions, Ltd. In addition to performing at the LIME Creole in the Park Festival in Dominica, she has performed at several regional events which include Love Fest (St. Lucia), Jamaica Jazz and Blues, Love Is All We Need (Antigua) and venues such as Russell’s in Antigua and Weekenz Bistro and Bar, Christopher’s Jazz Café and Red Bones Blues Café, all in Jamaica. Now back in New York, marie-claire has returned to her first love which is jazz. Her completed EP, ”Chasing Rainbows”, produced by Grammy winning producer Scott Jacoby, is a reflection of her love for the genre. The full length album entitled, ”Under The Covers”, is scheduled for release in 2013 with original material and standards. Her recent engagements have included the Metropolitan Room in New York City and the singing of the National Anthem for the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclay Center. In addition to jazz and broadway musicals, marie-claire seamlessly and uniquely blends opera and hip-hop. These two genres, covering similar themes with highly dramatic lyrics, are displayed in her rendition of DJ Logic’s The Anomaly and her original songs “Red” and “Desperation.” The result is a blend of Opera, Hip-Hop and Reggae into a mature, sexy, and delightful album- a fitting description of marie-claire herself. Another completed EP entitled “The Dreamland Project” features marie-claire singing celebrated reggae songs ( Bunny Wailer’s “Dreamland” and Bob Marley’s “Rastaman Chant”) in Opera, and includes some original reggae selections such as “Care For You”; a sweet and timeless lover’s rock with and old soul.
