About Smoke

There seem to be a number of bands who have called themselves Smoke, but the albums and pic on this page currently (feb07) show the band from Cabbagetown, Atlanta, GA. Benjamin's project until he died in 1999, their best description only comes from listening to the music itself. Tom Waits-ish for sure, but still an inadequate characterization. http://www.benjaminremembered.com http://www.myspace.com/benjaminsmoke

Other Smokes:

2)Smoke - MC / Hip Hop Producer. Smoke is one half of the production company 'EarthFire Music' with fellow Oldominion member, Zebulon Dak.

3)Smoke - late 60s and early 70s biker band from California that made two great albums. Not to be confused with any of the many other bands called Smoke. Long groovy faux-gospel blues riffs, a surrealist and ironic story telling singer. With John David Orvis aka Junior Bryant, who is big bearded biker in many Hollywood movies.

4)SMOKE 1998(Echo Park,Los Angeles)When stoner rockers Marc Star & Yosh (Stephen Newman) Met in '98 there was no concern that they had formed the latest in a long list of SMOKES, they figured if people could duplicate birth names so freely why couldn't they use a lyric from one of their favorite artist (Monster Magnet)thats so fittingly matched there heavy ass sound...

5)Smoke is the collaborative sound of 2 Mumbai-based musicians Ashu & Dhruv. Dhruv trained in Indian Classical and the Ashu in Western Classical. The result is a rooted metropolitan sound far, far away from the comfort of the tried-and-tested. Their work runs the whole gamut of genres from Western Symphonic to Bebop, Indian classical to Dance, and Blues. Smoke also works with commercials and feature film soundtracks in India and around the world. Their first album 'Smoke Signals' has been described as "is a twisted futuristic vision of traditional India in different languages".

6) Gangsta rapper from East Palo Alto
