About DBSK
Dong Bang Shin Ki/동방신기 (DBSK), also known as Dong Bang Shin Gi (DBSG), Tong Vfang Xien Qi (TVXQ/TVfXQ in China and International fanbases), and 東方神起/Tohoshinki (THSK) in Japan is a Korean music group from SM Entertainment, consisting of 5 members: Kim JunSu-Xiah Junsu (시아준수), Park YooChun-Micky Yoochun (믹키유천),Jung YunHo- U-Know Yunho (유노윤호),Kim JaeJoong- YoungWoong(Hero) Jaejoong (영웅재중), and Shim ChangMin- ChoiKang Changmin (최강창민).
Following their first appearance in December 2003 alongside BoA and Britney Spears, Dong Bang Shin Ki released their first album 'TRI-ANGLE' in 2004 and managed the #1 spot on Korean music charts just 3 months later. On September 12, 2005, DBSK released their sophomore album 'Rising Sun'. The album's popularity quickly spread past Korea to Japan, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and further overseas.
After releasing their '1st Live Concert Album : Rising Sun' early in the summer of 2006, the band moved to Japan, successfully releasing their first Japanese album, which consisted their older Japanese singles and several new songs.
In late August 2006, Dong Bang Shin Ki returned to Korea with the release of their third album 'O'-正.反.合 (O. Jung. Ban. Hap.) featuring the band with a more mature image. Within its first month, the album reached the 100,000 sales mark.To this day they sold 395,105 copies of this album. On March 14, 2007, they released their second Japanese album, "Five in the Black". Currently they've released 23 Japanese singles. Their 4th single "Ashita wa Kuru Kara" was featured as the 17th ending of the anime ONE PIECE.On January 23, 2008, they released their third japanese album "T". On July 22, 2008,TVXQ became the first non-Japanese artist to have three number ones on the weekly Oricon singles chart, when their single " Why Did I Fall In Love With You? (どうして君を好きになってしまったんだろう?) attained number one. They are one of the few Korean bands to secure over 390,000 attendees at concerts.
Dong Bang Shin Ki has also appeared in commercials, dramas, talk shows and radio shows. In 2005, the band released their own set of banjun dramas starring the band members themselves, which were widely accepted by their fanbase, Cassiopeia. Their own TV DRAMA, Vacation, was presented on a movie screen in Korea and they have already finished shooting the sequel, Dating on Earth. Recently the entire band has appeared on X-MAN, Yashimanman and several radio shows.
Despite a recent incident in which an anti-fan delivered a threatening letter and a drink laced with cyanoacrylate to band leader, U-Know Yunho, and Youngwoong Jaejoong's knee injury requiring surgery in 2005, Dong Bang Shin Ki remains determined at what they do. Each member has their own distinct style, personality and voice, and they manage to work together to create a sound and an image appreciated by fans worldwide.
Dong Bang Shin Ki celebrated their 4th Anniversary on December 26th 2007.
The group is currently working on the upcoming 4th Korean album, scheduled to be released for fall of 2008.
