About The Salt Riot

In a basement in Seattle's suburbs circa 2009 Singer/Songerwriter/Guitarist Julia Vidal and Audio Engineer/Bassist Jack Machin founded The Salt Riot, while they were attending the University of Washington pursuing degrees in music. The Sat Riot recorded their first EP at London Bridge Studios in Seattle Washington, recording a host of acoustic material Julia had written over the years spent in said basement in college. This was recorded with The Salt Riot in 2013 and released as the EP "Bystander." Two years later in 2015, The Salt Riot released "Dead Star" LP which was recorded at Chartreuse Muffin Studio in Seattle, WA with producer David Miner. "Dead star" was a collection of songs Vidal primarily wrote in reference to the negative effects of capitalism, corrupt politics, ego-maniacs, social and cultural stigma, the military industrial complex and other cultural and social topics. The Salt Riot is now working on their third EP release, recorded also with David Miner in Seattle WA. PRESS: “Seattle’s The Salt Riot released one of the most memorable albums in recent times – Dead Star – that lives up to the promise of what we call ‘The New Rock N Roll.’” —Power Of Pop Interview (Singapore) Read more at: http://www.powerofpop.com/power-of-pop-interview-julia-vidalthe-salt-riot “Insightful, impassioned, sophisticated and harbouring a wicked sense of humour, the band have produced in their most recent album, Dead Star, a visceral collection of holy sonic grace.” —Skin Back Alley (UK) “Had been wondering what the first local album to thoroughly impress would be in 2016, and here it is. The Salt Riot conjures up a rich offering here of original tunes, each boasting melodic hooks galore, evocative vocals, dynamically sparse arrangements, decidedly cool guitar tones, mysterious lyrical themes, clever bass lines and smart drumming.” --Pete Blecha at NW Music Archives “As beautiful of a rock record to come out all year, without succumbing to any of the cheesy pitfalls of those striving for arena rock stardom or those hoping to dominate hard rock radio.” —Philthy Mag “Thick, melodic, and with a fierce amount of backbone, this album is for listeners who know well-crafted expertise when they hear it. Damn near perfection. This album gets better each time I listen to it.” —Northwest Music Scene "A cleansing fire of guitar, bass and drums. A warming and potent distillation of an alternative Seattle sound. A trio of artisans with a fuse; a spark; an explosive fuzzed-up invocation of a rebellion."
