Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia - Snaz (Mike Fernandez) was put in front of a piano at just 5 years old and embarked on a journey in classical music until his early 20’s. After seeing Tiesto perform live at a sell-out stadium show in Melbourne on NYE 2003/2004, Snaz had discovered a new musical passion – Trance. Following the trance and hard trance scenes for the next three years, Snaz self-taught himself how to mix with vinyl and collected some 800 trance and hard trance vinyl records over the time as a bedroom DJ. Deciding it was time to try his hand at spinning some records out in the clubs, Snaz entered the 3D nightclub DJ competition in 2008, making it past 30+ other DJ entrants through the heat, semi-final and placing 3rd overall in the final – earning a monthly residency for the next year. Further residencies at nights such as King Of Clubs, Ace Of Spades and guest appearances at Undertone in Melbourne followed, having played alongside the likes of internationals such as Tommy Pulse (NL), SHOCK:FORCE (UK), MaRLo (NL/AUS) and Dave Joy (SUI) in 2012. 2013 culminated in appearing at Trancegression KissFM’s events in Melbourne alongside established internationals such as Manuel Le Saux, Darren Porter, Photographer, Gareth Weston and talented vocalist Alana Aldea while also supporting Sean Tyas (USA) at King Of Clubs pres. Tytanium 200 in Bangkok, Thailand. 2014 has seen more international support to Will Atkinson, Jase Thirlwall, Matt Bowdidge, Pinkque and Ferry Tayle in respective gigs by Trancegression Events and support to trance legends Cosmic Gate on their Wake Your Mind Album tour alongside Alana Aldea in Bangkok, Thailand presented by Pure Pleasure Entertainment. As a DJ, Snaz’s sets reflect Trance & Tech Trance, anything ranging from the flowing melodic sound to the tougher, techier and driving sound. Finally now dipping his feet in the waters of musical production, Snaz is influenced by the edgier sounds of Sean Tyas, Fabio Stein, Simon Patterson, Scot Project, John O’Callaghan, Mark Sherry, Heatbeat and Cosmic Gate.
