It’s been quite a trip the past four years creating our new record, Dream Analog. It took a year for us to find the right equipment and then Brian D. Hardin (producer/engineer, drummer) put it all together and we began to record.

The first time I heard my voice played back on tape it brought tears to my eyes. It was shockingly different than what I had heard digitally on my previous 6 albums. It had a much more well rounded, warm sound. I knew I was on the right track. Over the next two years we carefully recorded the songs to tape.

The final lead vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, and drums were recorded live on a Tascam 1" 16 track tape machine using tube and solid state gear. We recorded live and were able to really connect as we laid the song down. We later added overdubs of keyboard, horns, percussion, and background vocals. There are limitations when recording to a 16 track tape machine, i.e. 16 tracks, but that also can be a plus. In our case, that limitation insured the authenticity would remain. No tracks available to go too far off on side roads and dilute the message. It worked for us.

We found some great horn players to work with (Michael Cordone and Jesse McGinty). They play together all the time and that was a plus as we only had two tracks available for horns and we wanted it to be a full sound. I sang the horn parts into a little recorder and they charted them out and played them. Another miracle.

Dream Analog is a collection of songs about waking up to yourself, waking up to the world and seeing a bigger reality.

We chose It’s Coming On as the opening song as it seemed to be the start of the whole progression of songs that ended up making up this album. First you wake up to yourself, you find out that you are more than who you thought you were. First things first know thyself. Who are you?

This album is recorded at A=432 Hz tuning instead of the "standard" A=440 Hz. 432 Hz tuning is known as Pythagorean tuning. It is based on perfect 5th ratios. This tuning is in harmony with Nature. Maybe you will notice a different feeling in the music.
