About EG Kight

EG Kight
When she talks, the endearing southern drawl draws people in like a magnet. And when she sings and plays that guitar, there’s no doubt that EG Kight means business. She tours as a solo, trio or a band, and her live shows consist of about 80% original songs. And as a storyteller, in between songs she often shares humorous stories about her southern upbringing, and life on her goat farm.
A preeminent voice in roots music, EG KIGHT has performed on stages from coast to coast, from the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN to the Monterey Bay Jazz and Blues Festival in CA to the Chenango Blues Festival in NY, the Cox Capitol Theatre in GA to the Griswold Auditorium in MI to the Strand Theater in PA, and many more. Kight is at home on any stage.
With her rich vocals, captivating guitar style, and hefty catalog of well-crafted original songs, she has entertained audiences around the globe in true southern style, and has garnered 21 music industry nominations, including 3 for "Song of the Year".
An indisputable triple threat – as singer, songwriter, and guitar player - with her own unique blend of "country flavored southern fried blues”, her music appeals to fans across the genres.
Kight’s original songs have been recorded by several major blues artists, some have aired on five major TV networks and in film, and two songs aired on the SEC Network's Season 6 “TrueSouth” episode about her hometown of Dublin. And those songs have been added to the ESPN Spotify playlist.
Kight’s 2021 "Trio Sessions" album - recorded with her acoustic trio bandmates Gary Porter (drums/percussion/harmonica) and Ken Wynn (guitar/dobro) - garnered three Acoustic Album of the Year nominations from various music industry organizations. And Kight received three different Female Artist of the Year nods as well.
And her 2023 "Sticks & Strings" album, another acoustic trio project, was nominated for THREE awards for Acoustic Album from various industry organizations - a Blues Music Award, a Blues Blast award, and and Independent Blues Award.
It debuted at #10 on the Billboard Blues Chart, #11 on the Big Blues Chart, #16 on the Living Blues Radio Chart, #19 on the Australian Blues and Roots Chart, and at #22 on the North American College & Community Radio Chart (NACC). And EG's trio performed several songs from the record on the Blues Music Awards show in Memphis.
A seasoned veteran of the road, Kight has no plans to slow down. She’s writing and recording more new songs and performing more live shows, taking her unique blend of roots music to various stages across the country.
No matter the city or the venue, wherever she’s making music, she’s at home. It’s what she does. It’s what she loves…

"She’s as classy, sassy, confident and credible as they come. Kight provides new hues for the blues while ensuring they remain compelling and engaging all at the same time."
- American Songwriter Magazine
"...a cross between Bonnie Raitt’s bourbon stung growl and Phoebe Snow’s emotive warble.”
- CityBeat Cincinnati
"Her storytelling skills and down home southern humor
add warmth to already spirited live performances.”

EG Kight is timeless and she puts her heart and soul into her songs. My husband and I haven’t seen EG since she used to perform at the Tropicana Room in Chattanooga, so we were thrilled to have the opportunity to see her again earlier this week. It was such a delight to listen to EG once again and hope to see her when she returns to the Chattanooga area!
