Rosie Thomas's comedy tour

About Rosie Thomas

Singer/songwriter Rosie Thomas has been working through her life in song for 20+ years. From her 2002 debut album, When We Were Small (Sub Pop) through her latest ongoing song series, Lullabies For Parents (SINGALONG) Rosie has always had an uncanny knack for processing her personal experiences in a way that makes them universal, and yet still personal to so many - coming alongside others and encouraging them through their own journeys. As NPR's Lars Gotrich put it, "As a college freshman, Rosie Thomas gave voice to my hopeless romanticism. As a parent, Rosie Thomas gives me space to cry about not knowing WTF to do."
In addition to soundtracking the lives of many fans, her songs have quite literally been the soundtrack to many TV dramas and films.

In a seemingly odd juxtaposition to her earnest, emotional songs, Thomas has also dabbled in comedy: previously opening shows disguised as an unannounced, awkward, neck-braced, coke-bottle-bespeckled pizza delivery driver named Sheila Saputo, doing stand up opening for Mitch Hedberg, acting in a feature film opposite Steve Zahn, performing on the UCB stage, or making zany videos to promote friend and frequent collaborator Sufjan Stevens' Christmas album. Not to be confused w/ her own 2008, A Very Rosie Christmas, which Rolling Stone named to their "Essential Christmas Albums."

Above all what matters most to Rosie is connecting with, comforting, & encouraging others. And as anyone who has spent even a few moments with her knows where she truly shines is talking with people - empathetically relating to others, vulnerably sharing her own struggles, and lending the insight she's gathered.

Her new show, Parents Are Just People, is an attempt to bring together all the things she does well (and loves doing) in what's been described as a one-woman long form comedy/concert/ted talk/pep talk/therapy session all in one.
