About Claudio Tolousse

Claudio Tolousse Perez, the son of Colombian artist Guilloume, began playing guitar when he was 11 years old, and has been playing professionally since he was 16. He has studied with Michael Anthony, Michael Chapdelaine and continues his studies at the University of New Mexico pursuing a Performance Jazz Studies degree. He has been called by The Albuquerque Tribune’s ‘Venue’, and Mel Minter from the ‘ABQ Magazine’ and the 'Alibi' as one of the hottest up and coming players in town. He has played with Cornell Gunter’s Coasters, The New Mexico Sensation Sparx and their brother Lorenzo Antonio, Doug Lawrence the lead tenor saxophonist for the Count Basie Band, The world famous trumpet player Bobby Shew, one of the hottest LA session players Wayne Bergeron, Flamenco Artists in New Mexico Joaquin Gallegos and "Chuscales". Genres don't stand in the way of any endeavors that Claudio takes on. Living in New Orleans for some time he also played with musicians like Ellis Marsalis (the father of Wynton and Branford Marsalis), Legendary drummer Johnny Vidacovich and many others. He leads his own electric project, acoustic project, his jazz groups and plays with many other bands covering Blues, Jazz, Classical, Rock, R&B, Funk, Soul, Oldies, New Mexico Music, Bluegrass, Country, Pop, Salsa, Cumbia, Brasilian, etc… He has toured around NM throughout the rest of the Country, and Colombia in South America. Claudio has been featured on NM Style, a local morning TV show, numerous features on KUNM along with interviews, live sessions including a recent session with female lead in the Broadway production of Lion King, Syndee Winters. He was also featured a segment showing local young virtuosos on KNME's InFocus program. Along with a feature in ALBUERQUE the Magazine in the Tiempo section interviewed by Mel Minter. You can find Claudio playing with many local and national acts and touring the Southwest and out of the country to South America.
