About Geordie
Geordie is a British rock band that was formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1971. The original lineup consisted of Brian Johnson on lead vocals, Vic Malcolm on guitar, Tom Hill on bass, and Brian Gibson on drums. Geordie quickly gained a reputation for their hard rock sound and dynamic live performances.
In 1972, Geordie signed a record deal with EMI Records and released their debut album, "Hope You Like It". The album featured the hit single "All because of you", which reached number six on the UK Singles Chart. The success of the album and single helped establish Geordie as a rising force in the British rock scene.
Geordie continued to release successful albums throughout the 1970s, including "Don't Be Fooled by the Name" and "Save the World". These albums spawned several hit singles, including "All Because of You" and "Can You Do It". However, in 1978, Brian Johnson left the band to join AC/DC as their new lead vocalist.
After Johnson's departure, Geordie struggled to find a suitable replacement and eventually disbanded in 1980. Vic Malcolm went on to form a new version of Geordie, but the group failed to gain the same level of success as the original lineup.
In 2001, Geordie reunited for a one-off performance at the Newcastle Opera House. The concert was a success, and the band decided to continue playing live shows. In 2005, Geordie released their first album in over 20 years, "No Sweat". The album featured a mix of new material and re-recordings of classic Geordie tracks.
Since then, Geordie has continued to perform live shows and release new music. The current lineup features Malcolm on guitar and lead vocals, Steve Dawson on bass, Brian Damms on drums, and Mark Wright on lead vocals. Geordie's music continues to be celebrated by their dedicated fanbase, and their legacy as a pioneering British rock band remains secure.
