Gang of Four

Although bittersweet without Gill and Allen ( Rest in Power) the group was tight, energetic, and played “hits” like What We All Want ( don’t we??) and I love a Man… as well as deep cuts. The Fonda is awesome, in mid-size up-closeness if you wish or just right for hangin back.. Really great night of some old art/punk that still felt FRESH..

I was very excited about this show because of the venue. I saw Placebo there with my wife a year ago and it was one of my favorite shows (although Placebo is her band). I’m glad to say I got to experience Gang of Four in a pretty intimate (or as close to intimate as you can get) setting. Hugo was solid, Jon brought the fire, Ted Leo channeled the essence of Andy Gill and Gail Greenwood supplied the low end to help tie all this noise together. I had some gripes with the set (Awww c’mon! Nothing from Hard…which gets a bad rap) but overall I really enjoyed the show. Afterwards the band came out to the merchandise table and mixed it up with the fans. It was a lovely evening.

I want to have that energy when I am 70! Hugo was also playing with a broken leg, that is commitment!!

Unbelievable performance by a crucially important band. Their lyrics were so powerful and prescient in 1979 … so applicable for today… Their encore was an additional version of Damaged Goods. Ted Leo was KILLING it on guitar and Gail Greenwood (bass) and Hugo Barnham (drums)were fantastic 🎸🤩 . Happy 70th BD Jon King! Buy his autobiography!!

Packed with respectful, enthusiastic uber fans , cool venue and seeing the band was a dream come true. I loved hearing the stories in between songs, the camaraderie on stage, they were in top form sound wise and seemed to be having as much fun as we were. AND they demolished a microwave with a baseball bat

In awe of Jon King and company’s energy as they put an exclamation point to their farewell tour. A 46 plus year music legacy is difficult to summarize in 2 sets. Chicago is honored to be part of the chosen venue for it. The crowd was appreciative of the narratives woven into the iconic Entertainment album as evident from the level of audience singing and applause. Thanks for the great memories recreated on May 8th. The band’s catalogue will always be part of my youthful anthem. Thank you.

I can’t even begin to express how fucking amazing that was. Seeing Gang of Four live on their final tour was unreal. Their music hits harder than ever right now and being fully immersed in that sound and message completely blew me away. It’s rare to witness something that raw, that real, and that necessary.

Absolutely awesome. Nearly two solid hours of great music. Long reign Gang of Four!

So cool to see Gang of Four on their last tour. They sounded great and what's better than hearing Entertainment! in full?

So good? I had urges to spazz dance, but the place was packed. Hearing the Entire Entertainment LP in order live was great, they were incredible. Hugo’s drumming was the driving force.Ted Leos guitar work was as close to Andy Gill as one can get! Gail Greenwood drove the beat hammering the bass lines and Jon Kings energy and quirky dancing and spot on vocals made it a memorable night. If you go buy some merch that will support Dave Allens family ( original bass player) you can purchase a beaten microve oven signed by the band and used as a percussion instrument during the concert!

It's taken me 44 years to get around to seeing them, but it was worth the wait. Audience was absolutely bouncing by the end

They just flat out killed it!!!!!!!!!!! Top shelf, David Pajo filled out them boots with a bit more discordant panache, all where thrilling. Hats off! Thanks for the memories...got a board CD to pass on. James

They sounded amazingly like the GoF from the late 70s/early 80s. They were clearly there to put on a quality show, and that, they did. Their efforts and enthusiasm were shown throughout. My one complaint might be that they played for only about 65 minutes, but for each precious minute, I absolutely loved it!

Really good show :-) Could not have picked a better playlist! Every song a gem. Taking me full circle from their show 30 years ago at Club Foot in Austin. Thanks so much for that. True professionals, then and now.

I'm 63 and danced my ass off back in the day to GO4. Great memories.

I loved Gang of Four since I was a 16 year old club kid in Tokyo. I stole a cassette from a model from London and it was Entertainment. I felt so smart for knowing this music. Last night was very special for me. Andy shreds. The youngsters are all great musicians. Thanks Go4 for coming to Sacramento.

Band sounded great! Not too stoked on the lead singer's stage presence, though he sounded good. All in all a good show.

Andy Gill made time to sign autographs and take pics with their fans. Pretty cool.
