About False Advertising

False Advertising
Forged in Manchester's DIY scene, False Advertising have spent years carving out their own take on grunge-influenced alternative rock.
Following the release of 2019's Brainfreeze (via Alcopop! Records), the pandemic prompted the band to regroup and quietly develop new material between Manchester rehearsal spaces and London's Church Studios with co-producer Luke Pickering.
Their 2026 album The Sorry Window saw the band expand their sound, balancing melodic clarity with noisy riffs, close-to-the-bone lyricism, electronic textures and flashes of post-punk, with an expanded deluxe edition following this November. False Advertising have since returned as a three-piece with drummer Rick Ashton alongside Jen Hingley and Josh Sellers, with their first shows together including a sold-out support slot with Arcane Roots at Outernet Live in London and a hometown headline show at Manchester's Deaf Institute.
With previous support from Kerrang!, NME, BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music, and brand new music already in the works, False Advertising continue to evolve whilst staying true to their DIY roots.

The best show to date! The band sounded super dynamic and fresh making your feet move by themselves. Jen, the front-lady had a great connection with the audience making fun comments in between the songs everyone seem to enjoy and engage with. The new material presented at the night was well crafted and there was a nice groove to it, particularly the latest single „Don’t Ask Me” with a catchy chorus and superb drum section sounded even better live. The merch stall, as always well equipped in band’s back catalogue and cool t-shirts operated by the lovely Jen herself.
