About Benita Washington
Benita Jones
Selma, Alabama native, Benita Jones, burst onto the Gospel Music scene in 2004 with her debut release “Hold On” (Light Records), which hit multiple slots on the Billboard charts in its first week; including number six on Top Gospel Albums; received a Soul Train “Lady of Soul” nomination for Best Gospel Album, and the lead single, “Thank You” reached number three on the Gospel radio charts; remaining there three consecutive weeks. Benita’s popularity gained momentum as a background vocalist for CeCe Winans, breaking through as a featured artist on Winans’ Throne Room Tour in 2005.
Fall of 2005, Benita accepted a position as Overseer of Worship at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Nashville. She would later become the General Overseer of Music and Worship Arts in April of 2011 and served there faithfully for over 10 years; as a result her following grew as she has evolved into one of the world’s most recognized Internet worship leaders. Benita is now a part of the All Nations Worship Assembly of Atlanta where LaBryant and Phineka Friend are the lead pastors.
Benita followed her debut with two more projects, “Renaissance: Live in Nashville” (ReddApple Seed Entertainment, 2007) and “The Word Remains” (Shenachie Records, 2010).
Benita has added clinician and conference host to her credit. She founded evolveU Worship in 2014 and has served as consultant and clinician to many music ministries across the nation. In November of 2017, she hosted her first evolveU Worship Master Class where music ministry leaders, musicians, and pastors gathered to refuel, refresh and realign themselves for ministry in their local churches.
With a new outlook and new music on the horizon, Benita is poised to introduce you to the EVOLUTION.
