About Apathy Syndrome

Apathy Syndrome is the personification of filth - a contagion welling up in the shadows of Des Moines. First and foremost, Apathy Syndrome prides themselves on a live show with intensity that is unrivaled - a genuine experience to accompany the blistering brutality of their sound. They are comprised of bastards and nobodies that came together to make music that decries the monstrosity that is life and human interaction. An Apathy Syndrome live show reaches beyond amplified notes and sounds - it is, in itself, a breathing, wretched organism. The raw, carnal energy that pulses and pours from the stage severs the claustrophobic compartments of the psyche. They are the scalpel. Vocalist Joe Day, guitarist Tanner Corn and drummer Zach Jones began playing music together in October of 2011 - this was the impetus of the force that became Apathy Syndrome. After several line-up changes before the band even took the stage, the band added Ste Reed to fill in on bass for the first show that Apathy Syndrome played in August of 2012. After the first show, the band took 5 months off to reflect, build and write more material. Since it was never intended for Ste to be the permanent bass player, the band began a search for a permanent solution on the bass guitar. In September of 2012, the band found a new bassist and Ste moved to playing keys, samples and percussion. This lineup began to tear the city of Des Moines limb from limb in January of 2013 and poured countless hours of hard work and dedication into becoming an established force. Many sleepless nights were had not only constructing and perfecting the music but actually creating what is seen on stage. Apathy Syndrome strives to put the "show" back in metal show. The summer of 2013 brought a slew of big shows for Apathy Syndrome including presitigious festivals such as Rock Cornstalk and Sound The Slaughter Fest. The band also received their first sponsorship from www.pickworld.com. Other sponsors such as DR Strings and COLDCOCK Whiskey followed. In December of 2013, Apathy Syndrome decided to add more to their presence - not only in stage show and musically but in their very embodiment by adding Nick Stone to run their lights, samples and DJ. The year 2014 saw changes in the lineup of Apathy Syndrome as the band grew into a regional band and prepared for touring. In May of 2014, the band parted ways with keyboardist, Ste and found Adam Williams as the keyboard player on short notice. In November of 2014, Apathy Syndrome lost their bass player. Deciding to go in a slightly different direction, the band brought back Ste Reed to play 2nd guitar alongside Tanner. The band's new lineup began writing new music together, playing shows and building chemistry. In May of 2015, Apathy Syndrome was asked to play Lazerfest alongside Five Finger Death Punch, Falling In Reverse, Devour The Day, Green Death and Through The Darkness. This show was an enormous opportunity that the band used to springboard themselves into the future. Driving forward now with six members, Apathy Syndrome is taking aim, not only on writing new music and further expanding their live performance, but working diligently to build themselves into a household name all throughout the Midwest and beyond.
